Notes on my ZZ Plant

I've had my ZZ plant for about eight months now and I'm finally seeing new leaflets emerge from the base—I was starting to wonder if I'd killed it with overwatering at first. Turns out they're just slow growers, especially in my tropical humidity where I expected faster progress. The waxy foliage barely needs wiping and it's honestly the most forgiving plant in my collection of eight. Has anyone else noticed theirs prefers to dry out completely between waterings, or am I just paranoid now?
