Notes on my Swiss Cheese Plant

I've had my Monstera deliciosa for about eight months now, and I'm finally starting to see those characteristic fenestrations everyone talks about. I was worried at first that mine was just slow, but I think the issue was light—I moved it closer to my north-facing window last month and the new leaf that unfurled actually has splits in it. Does anyone else find that these plants are pickier about light than people usually say, or am I just overthinking it?
