Notes on my Fiddle Leaf Fig

My Ficus lyrata has finally stopped dropping leaves after I moved it away from the heating vent—I'm kicking myself for not realizing sooner how sensitive they are to temperature swings. I'm still figuring out the watering schedule though. Does anyone else struggle with knowing when it's actually thirsty versus when the soil just feels dry on top? I've read so much conflicting advice that I'm second-guessing myself constantly.
